The People Behind
The Gallard Group
-
Founder, CEO
With more than 50 years in the field, John Gallard has built a reputation as a pioneer in Australian horticulture. A sixth-generation orchardist, John’s roots run deep, part of a family legacy that began with the first Australian ‘Gallard’ orchard planted in Ryde, NSW in 1838.
John grew up on the land at Sunlands in South Australia’s Riverland, where his earliest memories are of working alongside his parents, Trevor and Anne - packing tomatoes after school, standing on wooden boxes to reach the hopper, and learning firsthand what it takes to grow and survive in horticulture.
Over the decades, John has lived every part of the industry - from small crop farming in Bundaberg to developing and re-developing citrus and almond properties. He has consistently pushed boundaries, pioneering regenerative mulching, introducing advanced pruning systems, and building national contracting and sales businesses that supports growers across Australia.
Known for his practical knowledge and willingness to share it, John has always put growers first. Today, as a Father and Grandfather, his focus is on driving better practices, challenging the status quo and building a stronger future for the next generation.

Chief Of Operations
Raised in the Gallard family business, Sam grew up around orchards and machinery, operating equipment from a young age - as soon as the pedals could be modified to reach. Today, as COO of the Gallard Group, he plays a key role in guiding the next chapter of the business, building on the foundations laid by his parents, John and Alex.
Sam is driven by a belief in challenging the mindset of “that’s how it’s always been done,” constantly seeking more efficient, innovative ways to work. His focus is on raising the bar across horticulture while bringing a broader perspective to the future of farming and agricultural businesses.

Drew is proud to represent a family-owned and operated business with deep industry experience. He believes it’s Gallards’ practical understanding and personal approach that truly set the team apart.
Outside of work, Drew is a passionate endurance athlete. Whether cycling, running or swimming, he makes time to train, often seeking out a local pool or exploring a new town on foot while travelling for work.
